1. Dog Trained for Respectful Human Interactions
___ Always calm, relaxed, respectful and submissive.
___ Looks to human's eyes for direction and cues.
___ Never jumps up on adults or children.
___ Never uses mouth on humans, even when gets excited with petting.
___ Does not run from or avoid being corrected.
___ Tries to please instead of running the show.
2. Dog Trained with Respectful Door and Gate Manners
___ Never jumps on doors or gates.
___ Waits to be invited before going through any door or gate.
___ Always first lets humans go through doors, gates or even narrow hallways or stairwells.
3. Dog Trained with Polite Guest Manners
___ Does not charge guests at the front door.
___ Gives house guests three to 5 feet of respectful space at all times.
___ Approaches a guest by invitation only.
___ Does not nip a guest who is physically moving or leaving.
4. Dog Trained to Only Bark When Appropriate
___ Barks to alert family of guest at front door; stops when clocked off the job.
___ Never barks directly at people or other dogs, especially at their faces.
5. Dog Trained to be Civil With Food, Treats and Water
___ Takes food or treat from human's hand without nipping/biting if offered.
___ Keeps distance when human or dog meals are being prepared.
___ Will not growl, nip, snarl, bite if meal or treat is taken away while eating.
___ Does not charge any food which is dropped on the floor.
___ Does not paddle feet in the water bowl.
___ Willingly shares water bowl with other dogs.
___ Does not rifle through trash for food.
___ Does not jump up on counters to get food.
6. Dog Trained to Relax in the Crate
___ Views crate as the relaxing den pup-tent vs. imprisonment.
___ Enters when requested with no hesitation.
___ Does not become anxious or panicked if left in the crate to 4 hours after receiving prior exercise and a meal.
7. Dog Trained to Be Confident, Not Fearful or Anxious
___ When left home alone, becomes understandably sad but not with any extreme anxiety let alone destruction.
___ Can venture in the world with no anxiety, fear or neurosis.
___ Not fearful of thunder, fireworks, the vacuum or any other loud noises.
___ Can traverse slippery surfaces with uncertainty but not fear.
8. Dog Trained to Easily Tolerate Touch and Handling
___ Can have ears, tail, feet, hind quarters/haunches, all parts of body handled with no resistance.
___ Easily allows mouth and teeth to be inspected, teeth to be brushed.
___ Easily lets humans flush and clean ears.
___ Calmly allows bathing, goes into relaxation.
___ Calmly allows clipping or grinding of nails.
9. Has Relaxed Polite Car Manners
___ Waits to enter car door until invited, then jumps in as instructed.
___ Does not whine, bark, trash around, chew or destroy while in car.
___ Stays put where told and rides comfortably with relaxation.
___ Waits for invitation to exit vs. bolting out. Politely exits vehicle when instructed to do so.
___ Rides comfortably with kids, other dogs, any and all passengers no matter how crowded
10. Obeys Commands
___ Knows and obeys verbal and hand signal commands.
___ Reliably comes when called.
___ Diverts attention with "leave it."
___ Knows name means "look at me" and then either stop what is doing or come, depending on hand signal.
11. Is Perfect on the Walk
___ Walks politely at your side with no pulling, lunging, charging, braking or barking.
___ Can be easily walked with other dogs by the same handler.
___ Is normally curious, but does not charge or bark at baby strollers, other dogs, motorcycles, joggers, cars, other
___ Does not chew on the leash or jump up on you or any other being.
___ Meets and greets other dogs with calm cordial confidence.
___ Walks perfectly off lead, always respects you and makes the right decision.
12. Is Polite and Reliable Out and About in Our World
___ Is comfortable and well behaved out in our world anywhere.
___ Is social, friendly and respectful with all other dogs.
___ Plays politely with all other dogs without fear or anxiety.
___ Does not dominantly jump on, bark at, pin down, bite, hump, paw, or posture with people or other dogs.
___ Does not show any aggression towards people or other dogs other dogs
___ Politely shares toys, territory, people and even food with other dogs.
13. Respects the Home and Yard
___ Does not jump up on furniture, even with no one around.
___ Does not jump on or scratch doors or any other barrier.
___ Does not chew unless has a bone.
___ Does not dig unless has a sandbox.
___ Never destroys.
___ Is housebroken with no mistakes.
